Step 1: Measure and Cut the Lace Trim

The first thing that is required when it comes to lace trim attachment to the dress is to find the right length of lace trim. To determine how much lace you need, measure the length of the dress at the area where you’d like the lace trim to go, then add an extra seam allowance of about 1-2 extra inches. Trim the lace to the best desired length with an as sharp pair of scissors always delivering a straight cut.

Step 2: Iron the Lace Trim

Lace trim should also be ironed after it has been cut to the right size or length it is to be used on a dress. This will serve to make sure that the lace trim seams are flat and there are no fold lines on it either. Lay the lace trim on an ironing board and iron the lace trim with low heat only.

Step 3: Gather the lace trim to the dress

Once again, lace trim has to be ironed. The next process is to pin the lace trim on the dress. However, before a dress can be worked on, it has to be placed on a flat surface such as a table, in case there is need to iron the dress. Sew lace trim along the area where you want it on your dress part. Secure the lace trim to the base material and ensure the best way to do this is to use several pins rightly placing them closer to avoid any unnecessary shifting of lace trim.

Step 4: Step 1: Sew the Lace Trim to the Dress

Once the lace trim has been pinned down it is ready to be sewn onto the dress. Take another thread, preferably the color of the lace and then start sewing the lace around the dress. From the start point, stitch a line that goes right along the border of the lace trim at one end of the lace trim. Be sure to work the stitches closely and evenly placed. Once you are finished and you are off the lace trim, trim the thread and remove any extra that is not needed any longer.

Step 5: Hem the Lace Trim

The last process that is used in securing lace trim on the body of a dress is called hemming of lace trim. This will help in preventing the lace trim from Fraying or unraveling the trim that normally accompanies the lace fabric. For hemming the Lace Trim the lace trim needs to be folded over twice and then pinned down. Stitch along the border of the lace trim in a straight line, but leave the stitches tightly packed and in a straight line as well. If the lace trim runs out before the end of the shoe, reverse the stitch and, when the lace trim is finished, cut the thread and trim off any leftover.

It is easy to embrace laces since incorporating them with any dress makes the garment good looking. Using only a few exceptional tools and taking some time, you will be able to sew lace trim to the dress and earn the attention of many people.
