How To Use Fabric Glue On Lace

Fabric glue is a great way for attaching lace to fabric in a number of different fashions. Whether one is adding a bit more detail to a piece or creating some sort of unique design, fabric glue can easily and quickly make your desires a reality. Here’s how to use fabric glue on lace.

1. Prepare fabric and lace: Before commencing, ensure that the fabric and lace are clean and free of dirt or any other debris. If the fabric is wrinkled, you may iron it before you start.

2. Cut the lace, using sharp scissors to the size that may be required. Take the measurement of the available fabric and cut the lace to the desired size. The lace should not be the exact size of the fabric but a little bigger so that it can cover the area well.

3. Apply the fabric glue. Using a brush or sponge, apply the fabric glue to the back of the lace, seeing that it gets well-spread and engulfs the entire area.

4. Set the lace onto the fabric. Gently place the lace onto the fabric, making sure it is centered and the edges are lined up.

5. Press the lace into place. Use your fingers or a flat object to press the lace into place. Make sure that the edges are firmly adhered to the fabric.

6. Allow the glue to dry. Allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step. This may take several hours, depending on the type of glue you are using.

7. Trim the excess lace. Once the glue is dry, use scissors to trim away any excess lace.

8. Finish the edges. To finish the edges, you can either use a zigzag stitch or a serger. This will help to prevent the lace from fraying.
